Natural Household Cleaning

An easy way to get away from chemical cleaners, is to replace them with natural, bio-degradeable products that will often times do a better job for you and reduce the toxins in your home!

Here is what we use in our home >>

General Cleaning - white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.  Use the 3% H2O2 or dilute down the 35% food-grade H2O2.  I just use a cleaning rag and spray down my counter tops, toilets, chairs, shower etc…   For getting the ring out of the toilet > after you are done with the normal cleaning, pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the bowl and let it sit for 30 minutes.  Scrub and flush…amazing!!

Windows – I use a wet merry maid cloth.  Just get it wet and ring it out really well.  Cleans mirrors, appliances, and windows amazingly well!  If I need to really scrub on something, I will use my spray bottle of white vinegar.

Dusting Furniture – My merry maid cloth!

Hardwood Flours - Murphy’s oil for wood floors.

Carpets – sprinkle baking soda and then vacuum.

**Heavy Duty Disinfecting –  IV-7 Disinfectant Spray, I use this mainly in the kitchen sink, counter tops &  bathroom.  If there has been sickness in the house, I will spray all the doorknobs in the house as well as change bed linens.

Here is a bit about it IV-7

IV-7 bottle

We just discovered this product last spring and started using it in our home and when we travel.  It comes in gallon size, quart spray bottle (pictured) and 3oz. hand spray bottles.  I carry the 3oz. spray bottle in my purse for public restrooms and eating out.  The active ingredient is Silver Dihydrogen Citrate, which is a powerful, natural germ killer!

Things to note :  The product can be applied to any hard, non-porous surface. Once applied to a surface, it continues to kill germs for 24 hours, as registered by the U.S. EPA.
